Bonsai Exhibition

We were lucky to enjoy another warm and sunny day at this year’s Bonsai Exhibition in Troon. Our group performed a selection of Japanese music with shamisen and koto. We had spent time preparing a range of pieces especially for the event including traditional songs and folk songs. It was great fun performing together and sharing the sound of traditional Japanese instruments with everyone who came along.

♪The Japanese Tea Ceremony

The last week Edinburgh University Japan society and Socie Tea organized a Tea Party. We performed the Tea Ceremony. The guest was students and most of them had tasted the macha green tea before. It's amazing. I sang Oisemairi at the beginning of the ceremony then Miyakohuryuu afterwords. Oisemairi means visiting the ISE shurine. The song was wrritten in the Edo period. Most song of Nagauta the long song was made during Edo period. If there is a time machine, I could go to the Edo town...
